Month: April 2015
Insomnia
In absence of light I tried
counting raindrops,
losing tally at three thousand, two
hundred and thirty-seven, or
forty
or so.
I was not counting them all; only
the loudest, the ones
I thought hurt the most.
The others, and I am convinced
there were many, fell
silently, normally,
naturally.
Gravity.
I tire of counting.
Why
do we keep track
of things
that cause
pain?

tears
leave no scars
a cause of hurt
not cause itself
they seldom
travel far
a salty stream
down a cheek
past
laugh lines
and
the tributaries
searing pain
expressed
within the
softest moment
can I
lick the wound
This month is all about poetry.
Something new every day.

a poem
is not
a poem
until
you chose to share
until then
only
words
and thoughts
of which only you can care
until you
speak
or
offer sight
words are only words
impotent
restless
on the page
or screen
insignificant until heard
