Month: November 2016
Conditions may vary
but never the time.
It is now,
a common present.
Share what you can,
with friends and family.
as situations allow,
in the now. Be mindful,
especially today, of those
who are not with you
for whatever reason.
Appreciate what is there
and what you have,
in your heart,
in the now.
There is no time like
the present. Be grateful
for the now.

Turn it off. Weary the mind. You’ve had your say
now allow time for those working, or trying, and
believing there may still be opportunity, perhaps
prosperity. If allowed. Can the dream still exist?
More and more it becomes less and less important.
I will not listen; or cannot, a more apt description,
to the incessant ignorance spilling from your lips.
My ears bleed, my heart aches, among this crush
of bigotry, inequality and blind trust misplaced.
I put on my headphones commanding ear-splitting
silence to shut out the numbing narcissistic diatribe
with its women-hating violence. You’ve said all that
you needed to get what you wanted, you bullied,
and prophesied, and threatened and taunted. Now
perpetuating insult with that firm hypocritical
stance, adding insult to illusion, capitalizing on
chance. It’s less about being chosen, and now
what you choose, because my motherhood issues
are a far cry from your motherfucking truths.
A Blank Page
It’s freedom: wide-open space to
to write what you want, when you
want, and where you want.
It is potential: each page is crisp
and clear, the entire notebook
unmarred, virginal, laid out and
ready to be used.
Think of the things you can do
with a blank notebook. Make a list,
write them down; chances are
these first few moments will be
the last chance you have to insert
any order. A blank notebook can
be dangerous as it takes control
of how you express yourself,
whether you document, doodle,
dream, or dare.
Don’t be too cautious, let the
words take you where you need
to go. Yes, there will be mistakes,
but isn’t that why a pencil has an
eraser?
Take this moment, take this book,
and use it as it was intended. It’s
also called a scribbler. Write on;
fill it up, find your way, and free
yourself.
Few things have more potential
than the written word, but nothing
is as inspiring as a blank page.
