Month: April 2017
Birdsong, dawn’s first measure,
amidst the foreboding humidity
of August and the paludal stench of time.
Dragonflies dance, unchoreographed,
through flowering reeds, not
without a purpose.
Mosquitoes dodge certain fate, insects
of lesser stature attempt
to absquatulate the hierarchy
of the food chain. Organic drama
above murky, algae-streaked waters
all but ignored, as a passive society’s sins
leech into the aquifer.
We will all fall prey to something,
death not always slow, or pretty.

matter of time, physical being,
thoughts denied.
Whole-hearted wonder,
a worthwhile purpose not
always apparent. Moral or myth.
Humanity’s survival
a gift in kind. We are all seeking
answers, comfort, and
kinship within the spiritual realm.
Even those of us who deny
the existence of a higher power
find a source of contentment.
Eventually. Faith
remains a question, it must,
for daily we count on too much,
and have little else
to rely on. Our beliefs may falter,
or we within them. Examination
comes when you least expect,
care for the soul is
repeatedly neglected. Interpretation
of the self rarely leads to resolution.
We continue asking, seeking,
wanting and being. Listen.
Live your question.

Anytime.
Even now.

little

unless
mocking

of their
future selves.
