Month: August 2019
Climate change, the economy, gun violence, relationships — the pull and purpose of love — we seek simple solutions, sound bites, and readily-available answers to both current and historical problems and situations.
It is our inherent need for a logical explanation to an inconsequential predicament.
The thing is, answers are not always simple, available, or correct. We don’t realize it at the time, then become frustrated and turn our attention away from our concerns, as if pretending they don’t exist is a more reasonable approach.
There is no need to ignore the situation, in fact, it is dangerous to do so.
Keep looking for the answers, at all costs. You will not rest until you know why.
You will not know why until you are open to the answers.

dayplanner, a paperback, often
my camera, occasionally a
sweater, usually a sandwich,
and always a piece of fruit.
These are the things required
to get me through the day.
In my mind I carry thoughts,
a never-ending to-do list,
residual dreams, a purpose,
memories, and lessons
I have learned thus far.
Hopefully it’s enough
to get me through life.
Travel light, or as light as
possible. It is pointless
carrying around too much
baggage, or too many things
that hold you back. You
should know what you need
to keep moving forward.
At the same time, always leave
a little room for the unexpected.
Whether it’s time, space, or
mindset, you have to allow for
new thoughts, adventures,
people, and the treasures you
may find along the way.
