a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

If Memory Serves Me
Posted on February 22, 2022 by j.g.lewisLeave a comment

Not diversity of opinion,
but a country divided.
   We’ve been here before,
if memory serves me.
   Separation, then, was a
topic we tried to avoid,
but the boundaries now
are emotional. It’s not just
ideology, but ignorance.
   What will become of the
Canada we have known?

Mondays are just young Fridays

Remember when you thought
you were so smart?

What you didn’t know then
is nothing compared to what
you may have learned later.

Time does that. You slowly
learn about perspective and
eventually see things from a
point of view you didn’t allow
yourself previously.

Perhaps you were impulsive
or a little too spontaneous,
and you realize now that too
much effort went into trying
to keep up with everything
you thought was important
at the time.

All through the years your
priorities changed, and you
hardly noticed.

Now you might be right
where you never thought
you would be. That can
be a good thing.

Only A Fact
Posted on February 20, 2022 by j.g.lewisLeave a comment

A fact is not a fact because you
simply believe it to be. A fact is
only a fact when its existence
can be seen. We already have
enough differences, why look
for something that is not there.
