Life and Legacy

September 9

The image of the Queen is one I have grown up with, her likeness engraved into this country’s currency and, often, displayed on our postage stamps.
No matter her age, or the era, HRH Queen Elizabeth ll has been there for us. She leaves behind a life and legacy of service
R.I.P.

a decade of days…

2025 is an anthology of thoughts du jour, unsolicited advice, messages of peace, philosophy, poetry, and photographs from the past decade of Mythos & Marginalia. We learn from each other,
we always have; by example,
by mistake, by listening and
watching. We learn by living.
I’m proud of, and thankful for,
the women who have taught
me and continue to teach me
how to live and how to love.
I am still learning with you.

mind your mind

The mind is a huge sponge, each second of every day processing information, sights and sounds, directing you through tasks involved in everyday living. In all the excitement, though every activity, bits and pieces become trapped in your psyche. Some of this information is forgotten, or put aside, other times the residue of all the activity affects your nocturnal or unconscious thought.
The human will is an amazing thing. It can guide you to success, steer you through adversity, or just help you cope with what life throws at you. Willpower works through the daylight hours, but can also mold dreams and visions. Like any activity (music, yoga, art, science, theology) dreaming takes learning and practice. With some effort, and most of it done while you sleep, you are able to empower yourself by channeling your beliefs.

to be human. We see,
we know, we feel when
rights are violated
in this country or any
country. What will you
do about it? Now.

I don’t understand

I don’t know how
to forgive myself
for so many things
I have not discovered
and further mistakes
I will surely make.
I don’t understand
certain emotions
and behaviours, and
I likely never will,
but still I can try.

hard to believe

All of those reminders
you seem to ignore. To-do lists
and sticky notes, a calendar full
of times and dates and places
you need to be.
Easy to see. Hard to believe.
A schedule filled with time
that is never yours.
You do what you do, as
often as you can, in days
made up of meetings, some only
about the meetings
you just had.
Productivity has a purpose
lost in endless days.
Performance has a habit of
getting lost along the way.
It is not about the time, but
only the time you get.
It’s never what you remember,
but what you seem to forget.
