a decade of days…

2025 is an anthology of thoughts du jour, unsolicited advice, messages of peace, philosophy, poetry, and photographs from the past decade of Mythos & Marginalia. In unchronological order, the years not as important as the dates, each post a reminder (if only to myself) that I do indeed write every damn day.

I don’t think
we can accept
face value at
face value

I have
too many questions and
too much time
on my hands
to believe everything
we are told

There is always
more than
meets the eye

Go beyond
What you are told

unknowing

Don’t we all wear masks,
disguise ourselves
to protect our souls
from the unknown
or unknowing?
Sometimes honesty
needs to be concealed
to remain real.

speak up

It is the answers to questions
where you choose no reply,
thoughts we hold inside, and
unknown facts or faults we
do not breathe. We know
they are there.
It’s not that they are secrets,
we all just have certain things
we feel we need to don’t
need to explain or disclose
to anyone. At times it is hard
to even admit to yourself.
If you tell me something
I don’t know about you,
you will come up with
a greater understanding
of why you kept it hidden.

November 5

passing time

The sleep, the time,
the daylight we have gained
will only be taken back.
In the spring we lose,
in the fall we gain, a practice
we continue, again and again.
Will our lives change much
over a meagre hour?
Does time have its place,
its privilege, or power
to disrupt emotions;
what is yours or what’s mine?
Will it make
any real difference?

november rain

wet pavement
  and leaves
incense for a time
the scent reaching for
reminders
when and how
   november rain
washing away the silence
striking down fear
we sit
saying nothing
feeling
  all has been forgotten
  all we know is real
you want to believe
despite
  what you tell yourself
confusing confusion with
     wanderlust
and bewilderment
truth will last
longer than the rain
washing away the silence
pulling off the pain
