The sun rises a little later each morning, overnight temperatures now settle in at single digits, and the colours that surround us have taken on a different tone.
These are truly the final days of summer. The slight fog this morning was a gentle reminder.
I reminded myself it was time to take the sweaters out of storage, along with the coats and hats that will soon be required. Not only are we on the cusp of autumn, but winter is not that far away.
This is our reality.
There is a natural rhythm to the seasons.
Yesterday, I managed a little bit of yard work and mentally prepared a list of outdoor tasks that are required before it gets too chilly. I’m hoping to get another week or so out of the garden; there are still a few flowers offering up a smattering of happiness, but some shrubs and trees do need some pruning (I’ve added that to my mental list).
There are a few delightfully warm days in this week’s forecast, but also a good chance of rain, so I will bide my time mindfully. I’ve got to do what needs to be done while the weather, and my temperament, is cooperative and before the afore mentioned tasks turn into chores.
