Some of us
have been broken.
Most of us
are just people.
All of us
need to think about that.

Three letters from across this globe on the same day, and suddenly the planet seems a little smaller.
And closer.
That’s what a letter does; it removes physical distance. More so, especially in these isolating times.
Then there is the element of surprise. You always smile when you find personal correspondence in your mailbox (at least I do).
If you want to brighten someone’s day, from faraway, send a letter.
It’s simple, yet says so much.
It’s civil.
It is sincere.
Thank you.

Plans, projections, anticipated
results or expectations don’t
always happen when or as they
should (or at all for that matter).
Who knows why, or how, but
on any given day, without notice,
you are going to fuck up.
It happens.
Repeat after me:
shit happens.
You can question why, rage at
the moon, or have a good cry,
but none of that is going to correct
what has happened.
Yeah, you might learn a lesson
or three, but lessons don’t help
unless you put them into practice.
So try again.
It’s. That. Simple.
You’ve already made the major
mistake(s), so what else can go wrong?
Dry your tears, take a deep breath,
and try again. If you want to rage,
tonight’s moon gives you a great
big target, but let it out and
be done with it.
Rest up and try again tomorrow.
It’s that simple.

Is that how it goes?
What do you know?
Are you aware?
Do you even care?
How does it feel?
When will you heal?
What will it take?
Do you need a break?

I am trying.
to look for colour
in a black and white world
where everything seems
grey, muted, tired,
or threadbare.
I’m trying to be optimistic.
Even the tulips are trying
to shed some light over
the cool, wet earth.
Even they have
taken time to bloom.
Even I took my time
to notice.
