we want
to believe
it is not every day
though
tragedy
could be anywhere
yesterday
it was here
tomorrow
somewhere else
today
we can only
show strength
hope
there will be

everywhere
for everyone

If we don’t listen,
we will never hear
the unexpected whispers
that come from
unexplained sources.

If we don’t look,
we might not recognize
that which rests
in plain sight
for all to see.

If we don’t speak,
we can never experience
the joy of giving voice
to the compelling
thoughts within.

If we don’t confess,
we may never truly realize
the calm that arrives
with wholehearted
forgiveness.
