Mythos & Marginalia

2015 – 2025: a decade of days

open space

  • what you had

mid-winter depression a state of mind
    comes with the cold

everything happens as it always has

           you felt it less
       when you were younger

thinking less of who you are
        or what you had
and more of what comes next

         it is surreal
                      a time of the year
when you don’t want to believe
what you were led to doubt

                      days-old snow and salt stains
       suspended
                      as if nothing is happening

                    remains of the days
       sediment of continual mistakes

the sentiment of our leftover pain

                with mean-spirited weather
                    and the threat of more

                                         there is no warmth

  • always and again

    mornings come
                too early
    daylight waits
    for few of us
    others don’t have
    the option
            we wake up
    and do it all over
    again and again
    we don’t notice
    the night or the
    absence of light
         we simply do
            what we do
    again and again
    always

  • others will understand

Today I must say what I believe.
I will write to express myself, to
make my point clear, so others
    will understand. Communication
is so important. You feel it.

  • commitment

It begins with an idea, a promise, or
pledge, to a person, a concept, and
    yourself.
    Commitment comes in many forms
    as we accept invitations, overtures,
    or challenges.
    Commitment requires adherence to
    your beliefs and compliance with
forces which, by their very nature,
    could upset the balance.
    The outcome is never certain.
    Many times, best-laid plans are
    subject to interruption or indifference.
Your fortitude and intention are not
    always enough.
    Commitment takes concern,
    commitment takes courage;
    commitment takes commitment.
    Then it takes trust.
