the shape of the mouth
            baring teeth
                                   the
 brief moment between
laughter
               and anger
a snapshot
faded                not clear
         the smile
     exchanged
                          for tears

          all a blur

                        years later
had I not
known the predicament
     I would have thought
                 she was happy
