a decade of days…

2025 is an anthology of thoughts du jour, unsolicited advice, messages of peace, philosophy, poetry, and photographs from the past decade of Mythos & Marginalia. In unchronological order, the years not as important as the dates, each post a reminder (if only to myself) that I do indeed write every damn day.

Every day

we show ourselves

as we are.

Each day is different.

Still, we remain

as we are.

Who will notice. Who

can see beyond

all we are?

The phases of life, as with

the phases of our Moon

evolve. As do we.

Here we are

all that remains.

Mondays are just young Fridays

Do we truly consider the time it takes to become fully formed? Think of the hours or days (or longer) to stretch, then rest, then resume to become what may.

As strong as the moment, as fluid as the night, each day evolving into the shapes we must take to fit into the current situation.

We are as fragile as we are strong, or beautiful, or worthy, even temporary.

Sparkle while you can.

Be comfortable where you are.

Gravity will take you further.

mustn’t you? Are you doing

what you want to do, or doing

what must be done?

It must, mustn’t it?

Do it. Care about it.

What will you do?

paying attention

These days; this time and the moments in-between. It is what it is, yet, sooner than you know will become what it was.

And here we are, suspended in anticipation and not paying attention to all we need to see. It is more than what needs to be, and far less than we notice.

We must become better observers. We are spectators, really, watching life pass us by. Onlookers. Bystanders: some of us more than others.

I’m still not sure if I need to see more or be more.

beyond our control

Life’s progress is often thwarted by unexpected actions, most often beyond our control. The plans we plan, daily or well in advance, are not allowed to materialize and never reach that point of satisfaction we intended.

Control: it is necessary, even in defeat.

How can we control the unexpected?

How will we live our lives beyond our control?
