it cannot be december
without snow
without even
the promise of snow
anticipation
of precipitation
december begins
             as it ends
                always
promising more

overwhelming

How can we understand the 
human experience if we don’t 
allow ourselves the time?

We are all human; full of flaws 
but always hopeful.

The high-speed of this life 
becomes overwhelming. We 
miss out on what we don’t 
feel and rarely see what is 
meant to be.

In time we may understand.

Mondays are just young Fridays

Invitation last night to dinner with a friend; a time to catch up on what has been going on and chat about what we were all looking forward to this summer and make possible plans for later dates.

It was a comfortable, unrushed occasion sharing a wonderful home-cooked meal. Hospitality is always appreciated.

We have known each other only as adults. At this stage of life, we are all grown up and discovering that growing older has a broader meaning. We are now at a stage we were unable to obtain in our younger days. Refreshing relationships, on a need-to-know basis, takes on a path not frequented before.

The convivial conversation over dinner was full of news of families, friendships, and travels as parents and adults. There are so many commonalities. Perhaps now, more than ever, we are closer.

The past is important, but life lives in the present state.

Be thankful.

Be grateful.

Do any of us stop long enough

    to see where we are, or

        appreciate things that

     simply happen to us.

Too often we are looking ahead

    without truly acknowledging

  what we have experienced.

     Maybe we do not know?

efficiency

With some help, I made progress yesterday putting the finishing touches on an unexpected project that has occupied my time and mind for the better part of two weeks.

It has been trying, dirty work. Each step of the way I have looked for quick solutions, shortcuts, and methods that more easily fit into my limited experience with this sort of construction.

Yes, throughout the project, I was continually searching for an easier way. Sometimes the work has to simply get done, and I was trying to find simple, less complex, swifter ways of hastening the pace.

I wasn’t being lazy; I would call it efficient. At times, efficiency takes its time.

Still, the work got done.

Progress is not always easy.
